Round 2 Sublation: "The Wet-Clay Ledger"
1. The Synthesis
My Round 1 thesis ("The Living Receipt") brought mechanical spring precision and interactive telemetry, but trapped itself in a cautious 2-column component grid of literal illustrations (tiny paper slips, flat SVG carabiners, isolated beeps). Designer B's antithesis ("Follow the Receipt") brought editorial sobriety, high-contrast cream surfaces, and honest non-fabricated counts, yet retreated into static, non-ambient restraint that outlawed continuous physical life. We transcend both with The Wet-Clay Ledger: in ancient Mesopotamia, the first accountable receipts were impressions pressed into wet clay tablets before firing. Here, the entire viewport becomes a continuous, tactile 3D clay manifold where the visitor's own gaze, challenges, and consent decisions physically press into soft terracotta, slate-blue, and cream clay, leaving permanent topological marks that accumulate into a live, inspectable receipt handed to the visitor at the end.
2. The Tactile Clay & Motion System
Every form on the dark #0E1116 ground is sculpted from three volumetric clay formulations, rendered via custom WebGL 2D/3D raymarched Signed Distance Fields (SDFs), SVG gooey metaball matrices (feGaussianBlur + high-contrast alpha feColorMatrix), and multi-layered DOM claymorphism (5-layer radial/conic lighting, subsurface terracotta rim-glow, deep inner shadows, and an SVG procedural fractal-noise grain overlay).
- Terracotta Clay (
#E07A3F->#F4A261highlight /#7A3212core): Human agency, contestation, and active physical impressions. - Slate-Blue Clay (
#6BA3E0->#A8D0F8specular /#23456Eshadow): System telemetry, optical lenses, and permanent ledger records. - Cream Sealing Clay (
#F2F0EC->#FFFFFFridge /#B8B2A6basin): The visitor's receipt tablets and embossed typographic seals. - Physics & Breath: Nothing is ever dead. All clay bodies run on a shared RK4 spring solver (
stiffness: 180, damping: 14for heavy clay squash-and-stretch;stiffness: 320, damping: 22for snappy gate latches) overlaid with a continuous0.4Hzorganic breathing phase that subtly shifts light azimuth as the user scrolls.
3. The Four Jaw-Drop Moments & Cross-Scene Memory
The 12 scenes abandon the small card grid for a full-bleed theatrical scroll architecture linked by a central VisitorLedger state engine:
1. Scene 01 (Jaw-Drop 1 - Full-Viewport WebGL Raymarched Clay Hero): A live GLSL fragment shader renders three massive, breathing 3D clay sculptures behind the hero typography. Clicking or dragging across observable, contestable, or participatory physically indents the 3D metaballs, morphs the headline's optical focus/strikethrough/flock state, and logs Hash #01 into the page's memory.
2. Scene 02 (Jaw-Drop 2 - The Contestable Clay Tablet): A massive cream-clay tablet housing the sub-headline. The visitor is invited to physically Contest any clause ("Not an agency's", "not a model's", "not ours"). Striking a clause deforms the clay with a deep terracotta seal impression and permanently increments the page's Contestation Counter.
3. Scenes 03-07 (The Continuous Margin Spine & Principle Tablets): Scene 03 runs down the viewport as a liquid-clay nerve that grows a new terracotta nodule every time the visitor interacts with any scene. Scenes 04-07 stage the four "What We Hold" principles: Scene 04 extrudes a live receipt embossed with the visitor's actual dwell time and contestation count; Scene 05 lets users drop soft clay pebbles into three physics balance bowls (Verified, "We can't tell", Contested, clearly marked as an interactive sandbox); Scene 06 splits a metaball track into two independent paths (Deciding vs Being Right); Scene 07 stretches heavy viscoelastic clay tethers between a PhD paraphrase and source nodes.
4. Scene 08 (Jaw-Drop 3 - Full-Viewport Gooey Clay Murmuration): 95 liquid-clay boids swim across a full-bleed canvas, merging like ferrofluid and reforming directly into giant living letterforms ("VOICE", "FLOCK", "THREE") while the visitor's cursor acts as a warm terracotta attractor bird.
5. Scene 09 (Unbundled Clay Consent Locks): Three heavy pill-shaped clay toggles that physically repel each other if you try to drag them together, proving participation is three separate decisions. Their states feed directly into Scene 12.
6. Scene 10 (Jaw-Drop 4 - 3D Sculpted Harness Carabiner & Belay): A giant tactile climbing harness where the visitor drags a braided terracotta clay rope into a spring-loaded slate-blue gate, then clicks Step Out to watch the climber node release while the ledger impression stays permanently cast in the clay wall.
7. Scene 11 & 12 (Magnetic Clay Basin & The Final Living Receipt): A cursor-leaning terracotta contact basin followed by the climax: a full-width cream-clay tablet that prints and embosses every single action, contestation, pebble drop, consent choice, and harness clip the visitor performed during their session.
4. The Procedural Score (D Dorian Generative Soundscape)
Audio is a unified musical score in D Dorian (D2, A2, D3, F3, G3, A3, C4, D4), off by default and initialized by a single header gesture, clamped at 0.14 peak gain:
- Generative Bed: A warm, breathing sub-bass drone (D2 + A2 sine-triangle blend through a 240Hz low-pass filter modulated at 0.15Hz) that swells subtly with scroll velocity.
- Tactile Clay Voices: Contestation stamps trigger resonant ceramic thuds (140Hz -> 42Hz pitch-envelope + bandpassed pink noise); metaball merges play marimba-like harmonic pings (F3, G3, A3, C4); the murmuration modulates a lush 4-voice chord pad based on flock cohesion; Scene 12 resolves the score on a warm D minor 9 cadence.
5. Production Choreography, Performance & Zero-Touch Delivery
- Home & Essay Pacing: On the Home page, Scene 01 and 02 open with high physical drama, followed by calm Newsreader editorial intervals connected only by the Scene 03 clay spine. The "What We Hold" section (04-07) builds tactile engagement before peaking at the full-bleed Murmuration (08-09) and resolving into the Contact & Session Receipt (11-12). On Human in the Harness, Scene 10 anchors the essay opening and reappears at the "Stepping out does not unwrite the record" callout.
- 60fps & Accessibility: Delivered as standalone
axiom-clay.cssandaxiom-clay.jsfiles that bind to semantic landmarks without altering a single character of source HTML copy. Every WebGL/Canvas loop is governed by anIntersectionObserver(threshold: 0.05) andvisibilitychangelistener so off-screen scenes consume zero GPU/CPU cycles. Underprefers-reduced-motion: reduce, shaders and boids render a single static high-resolution clay frame and all copy appears immediately settled.
